Legendary Nigerian musician and guitarist, Sir Victor Uwaifo has died.
The “Joromi” crooner and highlife music icon and multi instrumentalist died at 80.
Reason behind dying of the music legend, whose track “Mammy Water” was a success for many years, was not disclosed.
Considered one of his kids, Uwaifo Peter de Rock, broke the information of the demise of his father, a professor of Visible Arts, College of Benin (UNIBEN), on his Fb web page, on Saturday night.
Whereas Peter didn’t disclose the reason for the dying of his late father, he however, expressed anguish on the passing of the music star.
In his Fb feedback, Peter stated: “Daddy whyyyyyyyyyy Did you permit us now.
“Professor (Sir) Victor Uwaifo has gone to relaxation. Black Saturday for me one week now after collaborating with me.”
The legendary musicologist served as Commissioner for Arts and Tradition beneath the administration of Chief Fortunate Igbinedion.
A First Class graduate of Visible Arts. His undergraduate challenge of a king on a horse, is a signature arts poster on the Ekenwan Campus of the college.
Sir Victor Uwaifo performed the guitar, flute, keyboards with dexterity and had extremely ambulant kinetic dancing steps.
Particulars of his dying have been nonetheless unknown, as on the time of submitting this report.
