Kebbi State AG, Mohammed Dakingari sentenced to 70 years in prison

BREAKING: Kebbi State AG, Mohammed Dakingari sentenced to 70 years in prison

The Court of Appeal Kebbi has found state’s Accountant-General Mohammed Dakingari guilty of N1.6bn fraud and have accordingly sentenced him to 70 years in prison.

Recall that a Kebbi State High Court had earlier discharged & acquitted Dakingari, but the Court of Appeal today overruled it & upheld appeal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – EFCC.

Mr Dakingari allegedly used a company that is wholly owned by him, Beal Construction Nigeria Limited, to award various contracts to himself.

Mr. Dakingari’s stake in Beal Construction is contrary to civil service regulation which forbids serving officers from owning businesses. But investigators from the anti-graft agency stumbled on evidence that showed Mr. Dakingari owns Beal Construction, which he runs with his sons and brothers as co- directors.
